Students of GCUL staged Punjabi folk tale “Heer Ranjha”

he students of Government College University Lahore Thursday staged Punjabi folk tale “Heer Ranjha” at the Cultural-Project Exhibition of Punjab Youth Festival and won the first prize at divisional level. Radio artiste Naheed Saeed and Aneela Saleem adjudicated the performance of the students. The character of Heer was performed by Marium Hassan Naqvi and Ranjha by Komal, while the roles of Heer’s friends were performed by Jabeen, Nida Saleem Sheikh, Hifza Tahir and Iqra Gillani.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman appreciated the performance of his students in the drama festival, saying that theatre had an important function to reform the society.

Aneela Saleem said that youth festival was a good platform for the students, who wish to start their professional career as actors.

Naheed Saeed said that being a Ravian, she had been performed several times at the stage of GCU Bokhari Auditorium. She lauded the background of the stage and music, played behind the play.
