It was 1st August 2015, convocation of Minhaj University Lahore at a famous hotel of the metropolitan. Usually such ceremonies always starts not as according to the given schedule because the late coming of the chief gust (most probably Governor) and his protocol, who always have many lame excuses, but I felt entirely change situation over there in the convocation of Minhaj University. The chairman of Board of Governors, Dr. Tahir ul Qadri arrived at the event well on time while the other gusts including Dr. Hassan and Dr. Hussain Qadri welcomed their father very humbly and respectfully. I observed no formalities as the chief gust directly stepped in the hall. The entire faculty members and the students with their parents maintained the tradition of the convocation.
The ceremony concluded and I got a chance to talk with Dr. Hussain Moh-ud-Din Qadri at the tea session. He was the guy Dr. Hussain Qadri, very humble, courteous and soft spoken, fixed a meeting after day tomorrow. It was Monday 3rd of August 2015, I received a phone call from his office as a reminder that I have a meeting with Dr. Hussain Moh-ud-Din Qadri at his office. I reached on the given time, his personal assistant (PA) convey the message to Dr. Hussain Moh-ud-Din Qadri about my presence and he may reply to take me in the office.
The discussion started in a very light mod as I asked a simple question about the educational background of Dr. Hussain Qadri and he politely replied
He was an Aitcheson graduate got his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Canada while after completing his MBA he left Pakistan for his Ph. D in economics from Australia. After return his homeland he joined Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS) as lecture and served there about one year or so. Now he is serving as Deputy Board of Governors (BOG) at Minhaj University Lahore.
Education Times: What is the history of the Minhaj University Lahore and why it was being neglected yet?
Dr. Hussain Qadri: It is a charter University of “W” category of Higher Education Commission (HEC). It is not an idea but actually it was a thought and dream of honorable Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri who always talk about the welfare of the deprived people who gave and scarified even their blood to the nation and get nothing in response of their forgo.
Dr. sab has established it in 1986. Minhaj University Lahore in itself a history which ask the people who are enjoying the luxurious lives but producing hurdles in its grow. It is an aimed university to push up the people of lower middle class and when this class grows on larger scale the entire scenario will be changed. The elite class never expects such a mega change in the society but Dr. Tahir –ul-Qadri is struggling a lot to gain his objective and “Inshallah” we will be succeeded.
Education Times: In his last speech at convocation Dr. Sab emphasize on the connectivity of spiritualism and the modernism. What actually he was trying to communicate the people?
Dr. Hussain Qadri: It is a general perception of the masses in Pakistan that when a guy get Islamic education he or she only can be called a fundamentalist as he/she gone through a process from preaching of Islam. Such people only can be an Islamic teacher or prayer leader and nothing else. While the ideology of the respected Dr. sab negate the mental approach of such thinking, spiritualism and then modernism are two pathway which lead to a single destination towards the preaching of Islam and it further make a link with ALLAH for which we been created by ALLAH.
The entire development of the globe was being done by the Muslims scholars who were very close to Quran and “Sunnah” and they have contributed unique experiments for newer generation of the world. But a specific lobby succeeded in their trick to divide the Muslims through this newer approach. The myth of this connection is to be in touched with the origin that is surly Quran and “Sunnah” but learn the modern skills to lead the nations.
Education Times: Have you achieved the goals of “Minhaj Educational Society”?
Dr. Hussain Qadri: “Minhaj Educational Society” which was established in 1994 and “Alhumdulilah” growing gradually, as I said earlier that the people who have the power, don’t want to show the real picture of our projects as they may little scary for our development in the field of education. About 630 schools and colleges (male & female) are being established under the same society but a few among are in developed areas while most of them exist in far-flung areas of entire Punjab and AJ&K. The core purpose of the project is to projection of the people who are illiterate and can’t afford the education expenses of the big cities. There are number of educational projects are in pipeline as we are working on it and soon we will raise the curtain.
