The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and Government College University Lahore are going to further strengthen research collaboration, so that the university scholars can derive maximum benefit from the equipment and expertise of the atomic energy commission and use it for the development of their country.
It was decided on Friday during the visit of PAEC Chairman Dr Ansar Parvez to GCU where he also met with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman. PAEC Chairman Advisory Committee member Badr Suleman, GCU Rafi Chair Professor Dr Muhammad Zakria Butt, Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics (CASP) Director Prof Dr Raiz Ahmad, Physics Department Chairperson Dr Hassan Amer Shah and Registrar Dr Akhyar Farrukh were also present.
The PAEC chairman was given a detailed briefing about the relevancy and quality of the academic programmes being taught at science departments of GCU, efficiency of research, its implementation, effectiveness, impact prospects and sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that modern research had grown complex and multidisciplinary and it was not possible for a single research institution or university to possess all the knowledge, equipment, and techniques required. Therefore, he added, it was imperative to establish academic and research links and share resources, expertise and equipment with each other.
